I Am Ready For Some Sunshine

In fifteen days I am off to LA. Reading a blog that follows the designers and friends of The Magnetic Fields this morning, I was reminded of all the goodness that awaits.

Like so:

“Oh, LA. We know how much you have to offer. We know about your tacos and your donuts and your sunshine and your vintage clothing stores. We also know about your movie stars...”

This week was clearly the first unofficial week of spring, and I just realized that on the official day of spring I will be IN California, in LA, running 26.2 miles from the Home of the Blue down to the waves of blue where the Big Blue Bus goes cruising around. Yay Santa Monica!

Anyhoo, earlier this week I had a little flashback to the late ‘90s and felt sunny inside and out (god i’m awfully cheerful this morning...) thanks to a fab trip to the mall. It included a stop at Delias, where I felt 17 and picked up some bright tees, then next door to Journeys, where I felt even younger, picked up a pair of Keds (see pic) for all of $4.99 and jammed to Sugar Ray’s “Fly” (hello 1998) while I tried them on and fell in love. Seriously, I was in high school all over again, only I had money to blow at the mall that wasn’t Mom’s. I mean, had I skipped first period art for Starbucks at Westgate and gone to Noah’s Bagels for lunch my day would have been complete.

And so it’s Friday and it’s sunny, and March - dare I say this aloud for fear the bubble is burst - I am digging what you’re bringing so keep on with it. Huzzah!
