Mapping and Charting and Beers, Oh My

I love useless information organized into a well-thought-out illustration. I love maps, old and new, and especially now when they're tagged with interesting facts or pictures or stories. I can stare at the old maps in my apartment endlessly, and while I don't get lost driving, as a passenger I can get lost in maps for hours on car trips.

One of my favorite nerd blogs is called Weather Sealed. From this blog he actually spawned another one all about finding, organizing and sharing the most random but interesting facts. And I eat it up.

Here's a piece from his latest post.

And an awesome one he referenced from a design shop (totally buying this if not for myself then for a friend)

Frank Chimero, one of my favorite designer-illustrators, did a whole set of venn diagrams, which are so hip they're officially uncool (I put one in an ad and our ginormo-client approved it - thats how uncool these diagrams have become).

The history of Crayola's many colors

Check out Weather Sealed / Data Pointed's stats about fast food restaurant numbers here. If Katy Perry on Sesame Street didn't depress you, this may.
