200 days from today, on February 20th, 2011 at 7 a.m. when I hope it is about 40 degrees (not 107!!!), my second round with 26.2 will begin. I love the Austin race, and while I've only run the half, I've run it twice and rocked the course, loved the before and after parts, i.e. the eating and drinking, always had amazing weather and despite the soreness, an all-around amazing time. Plus it's the 20th Anniversary of the race, so there are sure to be extra goodies in those race bags. I'm thinking a bottle of champagne would be about right, thankyouverymuch.
It's hard to believe if you're one of the normal people who don't do silly things like running really long distances, or even a mile (ok, yes, that's also a long distance) but I swear. Go run a race around the 'burbs of Oklahoma City (no offense, OKC residents) when it's a balmy, warm 68 and there are tornado watches occurring, and well, yea. Austin is just loverly. Bands, an endless line of cheering spectators and great signs, countless places to consume more than the amount of calories you just burned off.
Bring it.
